What: Lists the 76 names of Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt
Where: Wall of the Temple of Seti I at Abydos
Why: Sole source to date of the Pharaohs of 7th and 8th Dynasties, but it leaves off Pharaohs that the carvers considered “illegitimate” i.e.
– the Hyksos,
– Hatshepsut,
– Akhenaten,
– Smenkhkare,
– Tutankhamen and Ay


The Helicopter Hieroglyphs
What: It is the result of carved stone being re-used
Why: 1st Carving : Seti I : “He who repulses the nine enemies of Egypt”
2nd Carving : Ramesses II : “He who protects Egypt and overthrows the foreign countries”
Now: Plaster has eroded and shows both carvings partially visible and overlapping

The Osirion
What: Temple to the God Osiris and fundamental part of the funeral complex
When: 1294–1279 BC : Discovered : 1902/03
Who: Excavated by Flinders Petrie and Margaret Murray
